ABOUT ME

Anup Ved

Systems Engineer, Technical Trader and Market Enthuiast

My name is Anup Ved and I am from NYC. I have completed my Masters Degree in Electrical Engineering from NYU. I work as a Systems Administrator in NYC.

I try to utilize both technical and fundamental analysis to identify equities which has a high chance of future success. I have always been an extremely competitive individual at any game I played. I like to learn the rules of the game inside and out and find an edge to come out of the race successful. Few years ago I became very intrigued with the stock markets and wondered how people made so much money in stocks. I also saw many of my friends and relatives lose all their savings in the 2008 crash. So I decided to study the psychology of the markets carefully and realized that big profits can be made with some insights and a lot of research about a stock. Everyday is a learning process for me and I acheive to be a better trader with each trade.

The first few months of my trading were rough because, like so many others, I was taken in by trade alert and chat room web sites.  Nearly depleted my account trying to figure out how they do so well.  Then I realized; they perpetuate their own self-fulfilling prophecy.   Sure, there are a hand full of chat rooms ran by real traders who enjoy the comradery.  Unfortunately, most self proclaimed “gurus” make their money off subscription fees, not stock trading.  Others who trade real money, announce they entered a trade and entice their followers to jump in, thereby driving the price.  The “guru” then cashes in on the spike and is out with profits before their followers know what hit em.  They post subscribers wins as “testimonials”, but never mention followers losses.  I mention this because those sites are directly responsible for most new trader’s going broke before they get started.

After I stopped following others and developed my own process, I became profitable and have been since.

Born out of necessity, my trading strategy is the illegitimate love-child of Creativity and Analysis, raised by Empirical Data and Scientific Method.  I enjoy listening to others but, I draw my own conclusions.  I know that contrary to popular belief, exit criteria are just as important as entry.  I don’t buy a car without doing my own research, and I never put my hard earned money into a trade without drafting my own detailed trade plan.  A trade plan includes thoroughly back tested entry and exit criteria along with rational for position size.  I know entering a trade that does not precisely match my entry criteria, is like stepping into an open elevator shaft.  Once in a trade, second guessing my trade plan is like getting off an elevator on a random floor.
